Outlook Traveller Bespoke journeys are curated with insights from the well travelled team of Outlook Traveller magazine and operated independently by Active Holiday Company, a specialist tour operator.
Outlook Traveller Bespoke journeys are uniquely designed for the curious and discerning readers of Outlook Traveller magazine offering like minded travellers the opportunity to meet each other. From the choice of the destinations to included experiences and talks / lectures by qualified experts during the trip, these trips go way beyond ordinary tours offering you deeper insights to the destination. Our travellers have the opportunity to appreciate the destination from a more wholesome context with insights into history, politics, culture and social aspects of the destination. Recognizing that travellers would like to also visit the key sights, these are always included. Finally the trips are executed with extraordinary attention to detail to deliver the high standards that both Outlook Traveller and Active Holiday Company are known for. The result is engaging daily itineraries, expert trip management and access to local specialists and included excursions that will thrill and delight you.
Every trip starts with a talk, which sets the context of the travel experience. We have carefully researched and chosen highly qualified or experienced speakers who have a wealth of knowledge of the destination or the key experience these trips are designed to deliver. They could be historians, anthropologists, geologists, scientists etc.
To ensure a more intimate travel experience most of our group sizes are small and limited to a maximum of 16 travellers. Many trips are guaranteed to operate with as few as 6 travellers. Depending on the destination and the experience, some trips have different group sizes.
We welcome anyone looking for deeper experiences. Many of our travellers come as solo travellers while several come with their partner, family and friends. Some trips might be physically demanding and you should review the pace of the trip to ensure that you can fully enjoy the trip. Some of our trips have a minimum child age applicable and travellers under 18 must be accompanied by parent / guardians. You are welcome to contact us to check if our trips are suitable for you.
The type of trip largely determines the hotels we stay at. Local experiences being an important part of the overall theme of our trips, we try to include as many local boutique hotels as possible. These are generally 3 to 4 star standards but on certain trips you could end up spending a night at a camp or a cruise. Please contact us for specific hotel information on a particular trip. Hotels mentioned on the website are never guaranteed and are subject to change.
To book a spot on a trip, you need to fill in a participation form and pay a non-refundable deposit of Rs.15,000 per person. After you reserve your spot, you will receive an email confirmation with detailed information about your itinerary, flights and insurance requirements, a packing list and an invoice. Final travel documents are sent about two to three weeks before departure.
After you have booked your trip, we will send you a detailed itinerary that will include a packing list that typically comprises personal effects and equipment.
Flights and visas are not included in your tour price. Most of the trips start at the destination and since our travellers come from different parts of the country they prefer to manage their own flights based on the most convenient options available to them. Also most consulates now require travellers to make personal appearances for visa applications. However we do offer the service of booking flights and assisting for visas at a charge. Visas are granted at the discretion of the consulate and the proving us with the paperwork for the application is the travellers responsibility. Your passport must be valid as per the needs of the consulate and visas can take up to a month for processing.
Travel insurance is mandatory on all of our trips and you are welcome to arrange this on your own from any service provider or we can arrange this for you at an additional cost. We do not send travel documents unless we have your travel insurance details.
Please advise us of your food preferences at the time of booking your trip. We will do our best to accommodate your requests though these are never guaranteed. Generally speaking, vegetarian food is available at most places as long as you are aware of the limited options that can sometimes become repetitive when you are travelling. We do not include all meals leaving you with the flexibility to eat on your own on some days. Meals included are always local. Indian meals are rarely offered on our trips unless they are part of the destination experience.
A typical Outlook Traveller Bespoke Journeys trip includes accommodations, ground travel at the destination, meals as mentioned in the itinerary (including a welcome dinner), excursions and sightseeing with entrance fees as indicated in the itinerary; services of expert guides, specialist lectures, curated experiences and detailed travel documents.
