Madagascar

Madagascar is an island nation off the southeast coast of Africa. It is home to rainforests, beaches and reefs; that house thousands of animal species, one of which is the lemur, of the movie fame ‘Madagascar’, that are found nowhere else.
Madagascar's long isolation from its neighbouring continents has resulted in a unique mix of flora and fauna, many which are unique only to this island.
Tsingy de Bemaraha is a fascinating raised limestone plateau, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and Madagascar's largest reserve.
Apart from the wildlife tours, you can also Kite and windsurf, kayak or even go deep sea fishing!

The official languages of the island are Malagasy (Malayo-Polynesian language related to Malay and Indonesian) and French. The unit of money is the Ariary, and has an ATM network that is well connected. Visa is much more useful and commonly accepted than MasterCard. Whilst Madagascar holidays can be enjoyed year-round, the principal wet season is from late December through to the month of March; often involving cyclones, it is probably best avoided! The best time to go to Madagascar is therefore between the months of April through to mid-December.
