Due to the incredible popularity of this event, this race is sold out for 2025 and only waitlists are open. For 2026 and 2027, bookings are open. This race presents a truly formidable and genuine Antarctic challenge with underfoot conditions comprising snow and ice throughout, an average windchill temperature of -20℃, and the possibility of strong Katabatic winds to contend with. Furthermore, Antarctica can play host to some of the world's most incredible wildlife encounters; whales, seals and penguins are some of the many creatures you might be lucky enough to cross paths with on this once-in-a-lifetime trip. Note: Airport Transfers
Airport transfers are provided for guests on arrival day from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM from the Ezezia International Airport (EZE). If you arrive outside of these days/times, or if you arrive at a different airport, you are responsible to get to the hotel in Buenos Aires on your own. Airport transfers are included for your roundtrip flights to/from Ushuaia. Transfers are also included from the airport back to the Alvear hotel if you book extra nights after the cruise. Transfers back to the airport for departure are your responsibility.

Itinerary

Day 1
Arrival in Buenos Aires and Training Run (Wednesday) Open or Close

Arrive in Buenos Aires and transfer to your hotel. There is a light training run in the late afternoon. Transfers are arranged for only those arriving at the Ezeiza International Airport (EZE) between the hours of 8:00 AM and 1:00 PM.

Day 2
Tour of Buenos Aires (Thursday) Open or Close

A half-day city tour will introduce you to the vibrant capital of Argentina. After this, join the evening cocktail reception, race check-in and welcome banquet and briefing in the Alvear Icon Hotel Buenos Aires. There is an optional light training run in the late afternoon.

Day 3
Explore Buenos Aires (Friday) Open or Close

You have today free so you can explore Buenos Aires on your own. There is an optional light training run in the late afternoon.

Day 4
Explore Ushuaia and Board the Ship (Saturday) Open or Close

Transfer to the domestic airport for an early morning flight to Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego, the world's southernmost city. You will have half of the day to explore this interesting town full of plenty of shops and restaurants. Board the ship at about 4:00 PM and get ready for your departure to Antarctica. On board, there is a welcome reception and briefing on onboard safety. Enjoy an evening film on ice birds.

Day 5
Beagle Channel and Drake Passage (Sunday) Open or Close

Spend the days at sea, crossing the Beagle Channel and Drake Passage. The open bridge policy invites everyone to get a bird's eye view of the navigational activity alongside the Captain and crew. Videos and lectures will introduce you to the wildlife, climate and history of Antarctica.

Day 6
Drake Passage (Monday) Open or Close

Continue to discover the wildlife at the Drake Passage. The race operations crew will be dropped off on King George Island for a day of race preparation.

Day 7
Shetland Islands, Antarctic Peninsula and Race Day! (Tuesday) Open or Close

Today is race day! The course has been prepared with flags and mileage markers. Hopefully, Mother Nature will be kind with the weather. The race will start at about 7:00 am. Those running the Ultra 50K should plan on an 8-hour time limit. Marathon runners should plan on a time limit of 6 hours and 30 minutes. Half-marathoners have a cut-off of 4 hours and 30 minutes.

In the evening, enjoy a post-race party and celebration.

Day 8
Antarctic Peninsula - Paradise Bay and Awards Ceremony (Wednesday) Open or Close

Our destination is Paradise Bay, one of the most beautiful places on Earth. The weather will be the master as you spend a couple of days cruising in and among the bays and channels of the Shetland Islands and Antarctic Peninsula. The ship's zodiacs will carry you to shore wherever possible, weaving safely between the icebergs and floes to visit seals and penguins. During the afternoon join the barbecue and race awards ceremony.

Day 9
Antarctic Peninsula - Lemaire Channel (Thursday) Open or Close

Find yourselves in the fjords near the Lemaire Channel where humpbacks hunt for krill.

Day 10
Antarctic Peninsula - Lemaire Channel (Friday) Open or Close

Continue to explore the fjords near the Lemaire Channel.

Day 11
Drake Passage - Back Towards Argentina (Saturday) Open or Close

This afternoon, we leave the White Continent to re-cross the Drake Passage.

Day 12
Sail Towards Ushuaia (Sunday) Open or Close

With two more days left at sea on your return voyage, hope for calm seas and easy sailing so you can peacefully process this life-changing voyage.

Day 13
Sail Towards Ushuaia (Monday) Open or Close

Continue the voyage and make the most of it as this is your last day on the ship. You will first sight land at Cape Horn, Chile, from where you commence the approach to Ushuaia.

Day 14
Ushuaia to Buenos Aires and Departure from Buenos Aires (Tuesday) Open or Close

Reach Ushuaia at about 8:00 AM. Disembark and check in for your return flights to Buenos Aires, and then onward to your international flights back home.

  • Tips for drivers, guides and tour managers is not included in your tour price.
  • Arrival and departure transfers may or may not be included in your tour price – this is clearly stated on the trip page.
  • Excess baggage, porterage, laundry, phone calls, alcoholic beverages are considered personal expenses and not included in your tour price.
  • GST, VAT and other taxes as applicable in your country are additional to the tour price.

Booking Conditions

REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT

  • A Tour Application must be completed by each traveler.
  • The initial deposit of INR 80000.00 must be previously received. A second deposit of 35% of package price per person is required upon your official confirmation letter that includes your ship assignment, cabin type, and travel dates. This payment confirms you on a definite basis. A third deposit of 45% of package price per person is due August 1, 2024.
  • The balance of payment is due October 31, 2024.

CANCELLATIONS

  • The deposit is refundable if cancellation is received in writing before 31st May 2024.
  • INR 225,000 per person cancellation fee will be charged if cancellation is received in writing after June 1, 2024, and before August 1, 2024.
  • INR 410,000 per person cancellation fee will be charged if cancellation is received in writing after August 1, 2024, and before October 1, 2024. No refund applies to cancellations after October 1, 2024.
  • If someone cancels in the group booking, the rest of the member/ group's per person cost will be increased.

OTHER CONDITIONS 

  • All bookings are non-transferable. So, no switching people, years, or trips.
  • Insurance:
    • Medical evacuation insurance is mandatory for all passengers.
    • All passengers are responsible for any expenses incurred due to airline or ship delays.
  • Imporatant Note: If the event is not held due to circumstances beyond our control such as but not limited to weather, acts of God or force majeure, no refund of travel expenses or entry fees will be reimbursed.
  • The Active Holiday Company, the agents and the tour operators assume no liability for injury, damage, loss, accident, delay or irregularity caused by any reason whatsoever by any party offering such services. All terms and conditions for this race are governed by the laws of Massachusetts. The right is reserved to cancel the tour prior to departure with a full refund made as full settlement to the passenger
  • We reserve the right to change the itinerary due to flight schedule changes, weather or any other reason that may deem necessary for the safe and enjoyable execution of this trip.

Q.3 What is the course time limit? Open or Close

You must pass the halfway mark in 3 hours and 10 minutes. Half-marathoners must finish in under 4 1/2 hours. Course marshals have the responsibility to disqualify any runner who might endanger themselves through fatigue, hypothermia or dehydration.

Q.4 Which shoes is suitable for the race? Open or Close

<div>Regular training shoes are sufficient to handle these conditions. We do not recommend minimalistic shoes or barefoot running under these weather conditions. Carrying two pair of shoes is recommended.</div>

<div>The course changes every year based on base operations and road and weather conditions. All runners must be self-sufficient and cannot expect any access to indoor facilities.</div>

Q.6 Where are the aid stations positioned? Open or Close

You must bring your own water bottles along with any electrolyte replacements fluids that you commonly use. Only water is provided along the route. Portable toilets will be available in tents at the start/finish area and two remote parts of the course. There are no indoor facilities for changing clothes or to stay warm.&nbsp;
