After arrival in Iceland, make your way to the hotel in Reykjavik. You can request a transfer or follow our detailed travel documents to find your way to the accommodation.

Friday: Reykjavik: Sightseeing Walking Tour with a Viking Open or Close

Today after Breakfast, get a fun introduction to Reykjavik. It will help you get your bearings and make the most of your stay in Iceland. Your guide will also point out great places to eat and drink on your walking tour and also what places to avoid.

This walking tour is your introduction to Reykjavik. It will help you get your bearings and make the most of your stay in Iceland. Your guide will be your friend in the city with the goal to make sure you have the best time while in Reykjavik. This family friendly tour brings the history of Iceland to life with interesting stories and Icelandic mythology.

You’ll visit all of the famous landmarks in the city center such as Harpa concert hall, Hallgrímskirkja Church (your guide will teach you how to pronounce that) and the Reykjavik pond. Your guide will also share hidden, local spots with you; things you’d miss if you didn’t know what to look for. Your guide will show you their favorite places to eat, drink and visit plus insider info on the best happy hour deals, should you be interested.

The tour lasts approximately two hours and you’ll walk around 4 kilometers. This is a small-group tour, meaning there will never be more than 12 people on a tour at a time so that your guide can answer all of your questions and you can get to know each other a bit better. The aim of this tour is for you to experience the unique, friendly atmosphere of Reykjavik, not just to see the most popular tourist attractions. You'll even get a small lesson in the Icelandic language from your guide so that you can not only walk like a Viking but talk like one too.

Q.1 Where does the race starts and ends ? Open or Close

The race starts and ends in the City Centre of Reykjavik nearby The Pond (Tjörnin). All distances start in Sóleyjargata and end a couple of streets away, in Lækjargata.

Q.2 Is there a Time limit to complete the race? Open or Close

The time limit for the marathon is 6 hours and 30 minutes. Participants in the half marathon will be asked to move up to the sidewalk on Sæbraut after 3 hours and 30 minutes everybody. Timing will finish at 15:10, after that no runners will get a certified time.

Q.3 What is the course like? Open or Close

The marathon and the half marathon are one lap. The course is relatively flat, total climb of 174 m in the marathon. Most of the race takes place on the city streets, although parts of the route are run on tracks, particularly the seaside and salmon river sections

Q.4 What is the weather likely to be ? Open or Close

The Reykjavik Marathon takes place in August and the average temperature for this time of the year is about 14,5°C or 58°F, which is ideal for running a marathon. Make sure to check out the local forecast and dress appropriately.
