Experience

The legendary route of the Munich Marathon starts at the Olympiapark constructed for the 1972 Summer Olympics, when the marathon was held for the first time, and leads runners near some of the most important landmarks of this Bavarian capital. The home of the Generali München Marathon is famous not only because of the Oktoberfest. It has a rich architectural heritage centred around Marienplatz, with sights like St. Peter’s Church dating back to the 12th century or a gothic revival Neues Rathaus. Make sure you sign up for the Generali München Marathon and experience what this beautiful city has to offer.

The home of the Munich Marathon is breathtaking. Centuries-old buildings, numerous churches, museums, the English Garden and the lovely Isar, the river that runs through the centre of Munich. The Bavarian capital is known for the annual Oktoberfest, its very friendly people and its sportiness. Even if Munich is packed with beautiful old buildings, like the neo-Gothic New Town Hall at Marienplatz, Munich has a lot of modern architecture and a young, pulsating lifestyle to offer.

The city of München Marathon is a natural habitat of Mediterranean-style street cafes, highbrow art and high-tech industry, Germany’s unofficial southern capital is a flourishing success story that revels in its contradictions. If you’re looking for Alpine clichés, they’re all here, but the Bavarian metropolis has even more unexpected sides to be discovered by you!

With that being said, the GMM is ready for you and we can’t wait to welcome you to Munich!

Whoever has competed in one of the editions of München Marathon knows and loves those iconic goosebump moments when running by Munich’s greatest sightseeing spots. The concentration and tension of the runners is tangible. Only subsiding when the starter’s pistol finally sounds and your run through Munich starts.

Get ready and be part of the GENERALI MÜNCHEN MARATHON!

Things you need to know

FAQs

Q.1 Can I transfer or defer my registration if I am unable to make it ? Open or Close

Unfortunately this race does not have any provision to transfer the race entry if you are unable to participate for any reason.

Q.2 Is it possible for me to buy just the entry and make my own accommodation arrangements? Open or Close

As Tour Operators, we are required to sell the race entry along with accommodation. Our contract with the race does not permit us to sell a stand-alone race entry.

Q.3 I have got the race entry through Ballot/ Charity, can I buy the accommodation from Active Holiday Company? Open or Close

Yes, it is possible for you to stay with our marathon group if you already have the entry or if you are travelling with a non-running companion. However, please note that this will be at the same hotel as the rest of the group travelling on our package.

Q.4 I am a solo traveller, is it possible for me to find someone to share my room with? Open or Close

We have several single runners interested in sharing a room with another runner and, wherever possible, we try to pair up people who have requested rooms on twin share. However, please keep in mind that this is not a guarantee and in some cases you might be required to take a single supplement. If you have a friend who is already on the group you'd like to share your room with please let us know your preference at the time of making the booking so we can pair you together.

Q.5 Will my travel insurance cover the cancellation fee in case of cancellation - cancelled by me or on the event organisers part? Open or Close

Most Indian insurance providers cover a very small part of the cancellation fee. The exact coverage will be detailed in the conditions of your insurance policy and we encourage you to check whether you can make a claim with them directly.
