Experience

A befitting finale to The RunAway Camp is this small group trek which will introduce you to the picturebook scenery that the region is known for. The trek to Deo Tibba base camp goes past grazing pastures of the Gaddi shepherds and the emerald blue waters of Chandertaal Lake ( 4480m ) with magnificent views of the Deo Tibba peak ( 6001m ) and its huge hanging glaciers.
The trek lies in the Kullu valley of Himachal, also known as the Chamonix of India.

Our crew to hiker ratio is 1:4 and every trek is led by experienced and certified guides who know the fauna and flora as well as they know how to deal with uncomfortable situations that come up time and again on adventures.  

Inclusions

  • Small group trekking experience. Min size 4 and maximum group size is 8 
  • Camping accommodation for 4 Nights on 2 or 3 sharing basis
  • All meals - breakfast, lunch, dinner and tea made by accompanied cooks in make-shift kitchens 
  • Transport from Manali to Trek starting point and back
  • Rentals for common trekking gear: tent, sleeping bags etc.
  • Porterage of one bag each, not exceeding 5Kg per person (there is a facility for you to leave your non-essential belongings in Manali)
  • Forest Entry Permission charges
  • Experienced Guides who are Wildeness Certified and support team. 

Itinerary

Day 1
Drive to AD Hydro Project Tunnel Point - Trek to Panduropa Open or Close

Post breakfast, get a drive to AD Hydro Project Tunnel Point, the starting point of the trek. The trek to Panduropa is 4 km & will take approx. 5 hours to complete. The trekking route is filled with different types of berries and flowers. Panduropa is at an altitude of 3600mts.

Day 2
Trek from Panduropa to Tainta Open or Close

Trek from Panduropa to Tainta is 7 km long & should take approx 6 hours to complete. Overnight stay at camps in Tainta (3900 mtr)

Day 3
Trek from Tainta to Chandertaal Lake (Deo Tibba Base Camp) Open or Close

Trek through the uphill of the moraine and marvel at the sights of the valleys at Mt. Deo Tibba. After a steep climb, reach at high altitude lake with emerald blue water, spend some time watching mighty Deo Tibba and enjoy the stunning view of the Chota Chandertal. Return to your base camp at Tainta. The trek is 10 kms long & should take approx. 7 hours to complete.

Day 4
Trek from Tainta - Chikka Open or Close

Retrace your way back passing through Seri. The descend is easy and takes around 5 hours to complete. Overnight stay in the camps.

Day 5
Trek from Chikka - Jagatsukh - Manali Open or Close

Today we trek back to Jagatsukh, Take a taxi to Manali. Expect to reach Manali late in the afternoon. After arrived at Manali, one is free to depart to their destinations.

Booking Conditions

Fitness Required:
This trek is a moderate trek but requires some stamina. Most runners will find it very comfortable but if ou are a non-running companion, you can prepare for this trek by running and climbing stairs with a backpack with a target of covering 5 Kms in 45 mins.

Expected weather:
Day Temperatures: 15 to 20 degrees in the afternoon and -2 to 5 degrees at night
