Since it was founded in 2003, the Principality Building Society Cardiff Half Marathon has established itself as one of the UK’s leading road races. 

With 27,500 entries selling out each year, this is now one of the biggest events in Europe – a huge achievement considering only 1,500 runners took part in the inaugural event. The route takes in all of the cities most iconic landmarks including the Principality Stadium, Cardiff Bay, the Civic Centre and Cardiff Castle. Thousands of spectators turn out to cheer on the runners in a city renowned for its sporting passion.

A series of Junior Races across the weekend give runners of all ages and ability a chance to get in on the action.

Day 1
4th Oct 24' Friday - Arrival Day Open or Close

Welcome to Cardiff the capital and largest city of Wales! Upon arrival, please make your way to the hotel. Please visit the expo today and collect your bib!

Day 2
5th Oct 24' Saturday - Cardiff: City Walking Tour. Open or Close

Discover Cardiff's rich and varied history on this walking tour with a certified Green Badge guide. Wander through the city's streets and alleyways and see sights such as Cardiff Castle, Principality Stadium, and the Civic Center.

With your guide, trace Cardiff's origins as a modest Roman Port, to its prominent role in the court of Elizabeth 1st. Learn about the prosperity of the entrepreneurial Victorian era when Cardiff dominated the world's coal industry and how this created one of Europe's youngest capital cities.

Start your tour on the grounds of Cardiff Castle and learn about its 2000-year history. Take in views of the Principality Stadium, home of Welsh Rugby. Walk through the beautiful parklands surrounding the Castle and learn about the Bute family clan and how they shaped Cardiff.

Next, visit the Civic Centre, which includes the Museum, City Hall, University, and the Queen Alexandria Remembrance gardens. In the Museum we will see the world famous Impressionist collection, including the Sculpture 'The Kiss' by Edwarde Rodin, the Water Lilies by Claude Monet and many others. Stop for a coffee in a unique landmark building. Take in the unique Victorian shopping arcades and indoor market before finishing the tour back at the castle.

Today is race day! The swift course, perfect weather conditions, and impressive cheering will keep you going until you finish.
